The 2017 officers of the Hanover Standardbred Barbershop Chorus were installed at the Annual Installation Dinner at Trinity UCC Church on Monday, January 9. Pictured from right to left are: President Ed Maxwell, Immediate Past President Ralph McGregor, Treasurer Earl Erb, VP of Marketing Dick Graybill, Wayne Meyer VP of Chapter Development, Doug Bayliss VP of Music and Performance, Don Myers Member at Large and Wendell Hoover Member at Large. Representing the Barbershop Harmony Society, Chapter Advocate Lamar Bortner was the installing officer.
Coinciding with the installation of officers was the introduction and welcoming of the new Hanover Standardbred Barbershop Chorus director, John Markel (Mar-kel.) John brings to Hanover a wealth of barbershopping experience including several years of directing
choruses and singing in outstanding barbershop quartets.
His goal is to improve the performance level of the Hanover Barbershop Chorus to the point that men who like to sing will want to be a part of it, and will come to Homewood at Plum Creek chapel at 425 Westminster Avenue on any Monday at 7:00 pm to “Keep the Whole World Singing.”
